About the Role: We are looking for a battery Lab Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work with other engineers and technicians in the lab to prepare materials to make coin cell lithium batteries, conduct tests on battery components, materials and batteries, etc., and analyze and report test results, as well as manage the lab equipment and lab inventory to ensure smooth/reliable operation of the lab.

  

This role will be located at our facility in Shanghai, China.

  

Responsibilities: 

  • Operate various experimental equipment in accordance with standard experimental procedures and specifications to make coin cell lithium batteries, such as coating electrode materials and assembling batteries
  • Conduct precise performance tests on batteries, including capacity tests, rate performance tests, cycling tests, ACR, DCR, EIS, CV, ext., also tests on components and materials for battery cells (prismatic, cylindrical, pouch) and battery packs and carefully record the test data. Set up test methods and write up SOPs for various tests (physical and chemical-BET, GC-MS, thermal-DSC, TGA, etc.,)
  • Analyze the test data, draw charts according to the data and analysis results, and write experimental reports to clearly and accurately report the progress and results of the experiments to the team
  • Cooperate with technologists and other functional associates in lab projects and other tasks as needed
  • Calibrate regularly testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. Be responsible for the daily maintenance of lab equipment and simple troubleshooting to ensure the normal operation of the equipment. Also manage the reagents and raw materials in the lab, conduct regular inventory checks to ensure sufficient supply of experimental materials and their safe storage
  • Follow the EHS regulations and practices, correctly use and dispose of hazardous chemicals/wastes, ensure the environmental safety of the lab

      

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in chemistry, material science, or mechanical engineering
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in material lab work
  • Being hands on
  • Fluent English in both written and spoken
  • Good communication and people skill with team spirit
  • Ability to travel 10% 

      

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Additional pouch cell experience
  • Experience with lab management and auditing
