About the Role: We are looking for a Chemical Regulatory Affairs Associate (f/m/d) to join our Fabrics team. In this role, you will focus on EMEA chemical control regulations enabling the use, development, and movement of chemicals globally.  In addition, you will also work closely with government relations to understand, monitor, and shape the evolving regulatory environment.

 

This position will be located at one of our facilities in Putzbrunn (Germany), Barcelona (Spain) or Livingston (Scotland), with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Gore materials and relevant existing and emerging EMEA Chemical & Regulatory regulations
  • Determine chemical regulatory impacts and risks to Businesses, translating potential impacts into options and recommendations
  • Advise on Gore's compliance to chemical regulations in appropriate markets for use
  • Represent Gore in meetings with regulators and other opinion leaders regarding both technical and regulatory subjects
  • Engage in scientific forums, contribute to technical papers, and input to Gore positions on regulatory topics
  • Participate in and influence industry trade associations
  • Review draft regulations and comment or advocate externally as appropriate
  • Provide regulatory assistance and input into various activities including new product development, new chemical approvals, chemical registrations, submissions to ECHA ( eg.  SCIP) and Stewardship Assessments
  • Support hazardous communications for all Gore Chemicals including IP sensitive materials and support to author and maintain SDSs 
  • Provide regular training on chemical and regulatory affairs as required

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in subjects such as Toxicology, Chemistry, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experiences in a regulatory role, with a working knowledge of chemicals/chemistry
  • Thorough knowledge and in-depth understanding of regulatory principles and guidelines including EU REACH, GHS/SDS etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret regulations, assess impact and drive actions 
  • Ability to prepare and submit reports to external regulatory agencies according to required deadlines
  • Ability to influence without authority toward a broad range of stakeholders including manufacturing, technical , sustainability, business and logistics teams 
  • Strong ability to recognize intellectual property, safeguard confidential information and exercise critical thinking
  • A proactive individual who takes the initiative can manage ambiguity and effectively contribute to teams that operate globally and virtually 
  • Active communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English 
  • Ability to travel up to 15%

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of PFAS chemistry
  • Understanding of UK Reach
